Being Free! Playa Sonrisa has been on our list to visit for a number of years... and we finally did it... and now we wonder why we waited so long. Being free of clothes, being free of technology, being free of the 'luxuries' of the big resorts, just being free in the beauties of the small 'jungle' resort... An unbelievable experience that we look forward to doing again. C/O is not new to us, so we knew what to expect as to being free of clothes. There is such a feeling of returning to everything as natural as possible, just wouldn't want spoil it by wearing clothes. Ahhh... what a fabulous week of R&R

My wife and I returned for our second stay at Playa Sonrisa in Feb. On both visits we stayed 13 nights. I am writing this months later because I still catch myself daydreaming about what a fantastic time we had on both vacations at Sonrisa. We have met great people there and the meals are awesome. The prices that they charge for food and drinks are very reasonable. This was our first vacation that was clothing optional and it was not a big deal at all. We can't wait for the next visit!

Paradise Found! What a truly fantastic place! Great location, lovely guests, excellent food, perfect hosts, wonderful time. OK, we’re running out of superlatives... We stayed in La Selva, which is one of the first floor rooms with a huge terrace. It’s a really nice large hexagonal room with a good cross breeze and a view of the ocean. (A fan is provided but we didn’t end up using it most nights because of the breeze). And with so many lovely places on the grounds to relax we didn’t spend much time in the room. In the first few days we experimented with different locations – the end of the jetty (perfect for the late evening sun), the waterfront on the sunbeds (great tanning spot), a hammock for an afternoon snooze. We booked for 8 nights and loved it so much we extended our stay twice and ended up staying for 11 nights. In fact, if we didn’t have other plans we’d probably still be there now!

Tranquil, beautiful, perfect tropical beach. Just came back from Playa Sonrisa where we spent a beautiful 7 days holiday. I can recommend it to anyone who seeks tranquil tropical hideaways. If you go, however, be prepared to: - take lotsa flying-insect repellent. They have mosquito-like flies called 'no-see-ums', which can infiltrate through mosquito screens. - no need to take books. There is an amazing library at Playa Sonrisa. - no need to take cellphones - these are useless there. - no need to take clothes. AT ALL! 🙂

A little piece of paradise.... A wonderful place to get away from it all. The drive south was well worth it to reach this amazing place. So quiet and tranquil. We met some lovely people - great food and fantastic company every night. Really enjoyed kayaking out to the reef and snorkeling amongst the coral, but mainly enjoyed lazing on the beach. Drinking beer in the hot tub watching the sunset was a real treat. Just watch out for those speed bumps on the journey down - they aren't always very well marked! If you want to stock up on any supplies there's a good supermarket on the right hand side of the road as you come through Tulum. And for the way back, if you need to fill up your hire car, the petrol station is just north of the airport turning on the 307, just after the 'Hotels' turnoff (so don't follow signs for the airport, there's no Pemex at the airport itself).

Playa Sonrisa was a dream, we arrived there in the paradise. Pros: solitude, peace, closeness to nature (can watch wild birds while fishing - herons, cormorants, pelicans...) naturism like on a "Robinson Island", breakfast+dinner are great, very nice hosts. Disadvantages: is in the "pampa", nothing to look at nearby, no shopping possibilities, seabed thickly overgrown with water grass everywhere.

A superb holiday We have just returned home after a very memorable week long stay at Playa Sonrisa, and we were not disappointed in any way. This little resort deserves big praise. From the minute we arrived we felt welcome and comfortable. We were very pleased with our beachfront bungalow that was clean, roomy, and had all the conveniences of any modern resort. The lack of full time electricity was a non issue as there was plenty of power available for our needs. Hot water was plentiful. We never had to use the fan and felt safe enough to leave the patio slider open and screen closed all night to feel the ocean breeze and hear the surf as we slept very soundly. The nicest surprise was the intimate atmosphere of the resort. There was no pressure to doff your clothes, it was a personal choice that just didn't matter to the rest of the guests. We enjoyed the freedom to suntan without clothes, play naked bocci, walk around freely with or without clothes. To me, Playa Sonrisa isnt a nudist resort but rather a place where you can choose to be naked or not.

(Translated by Google) An aphrodisiac place, places that are appreciated are still untouched by the urban sprawl and its pollution. The owners, are spectacular, attentive and friendly. Plus they cook delicious. The Cabins or rooms have exactly what is necessary to survive, and completely clean. We loved that the owners trust you and your honesty, and let you have the drinks and snacks you want, as many times as you want and that you keep your own account. We will certainly return.
